Oh mornings.  They’re one of the three best parts of the day (alongside afternoons and evenings).  Well, recently you’ve probably heard a thing or two about the importance of creating a healthy set of habits to get your day started.  And with good reason.  6 out 5 people agree that morning rituals can enhance your life… That might not be an exact figure, but the truth is that setting a positive morning routine is one of the most simple, easy and effective ways to win the day.  Sound good?  Yeah, sign us up.  So, with that in mind, we’re inviting you to wake up on the right side of the bed with The Kind Tribe.  And to do so we’ve enlisted the help of Personal Trainer, friend of the Tribe and all-around mega babe Jess Katz to take us through her own morning ritual.  Read on for some tips on how you can kick start your day the right away and kick more ass throughout the day.

Hello Tribe!  Thanks for having me.  Here is a little something that will make each and every day just that little bit more (insert what you might need “more” of) exciting, productive, enjoyable.

What is the most important part of our day? Well, the beginning of course; I like to start my day with morning rituals, all of which I truly believe give my thoughts more positivity, my body more energy and my day more purpose.

  1. Drinking warm water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and half a lemon: First, this will help rehydrate you after a nights sleep of no water.  Secondly, this will kickstart your digestion and reduce hunger.
  2. Meditation: Take 5-15 minutes to meditate and clear your mind of the million things I’m sure are running around up there. This is the perfect time to practice mindfulness and breathing, both of which reduce anxiousness throughout the day.
  3. Gratitude list: This one is by far my favorite ritual; start off with writing down 3 things that you are currently grateful that you have. This reminds us of things in our lives that we shouldn’t take for granted and how lucky we are. Next, write down 3 things that you can visualize yourself having in the future that you are grateful for, and write those down. This sends these positive affirmations out into the universe, and they will return to you.
  4. Breakfast: We have all heard it before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, its true.  Starting your day with a nutritious meal will keep you fuller for longer, more alert and focused and set the pathway of healthy eating all day.
  5. Listening to uplifting and feel good music: Turning some of your favorite songs on while you get ready for the day, walk to work, or while eating breakfast is a great way to boost mood and energy. Set up a morning playlist, and see how you go.
  6. Catch up on all the latest from The Kind Tribe…. Ok. OK. The Editor may have taken some slight liberties with number 6.  But hey, a good idea’s a good idea.
