Big designs, big shopping and big fun.
Before Santa Claus comes to town, The Big Design Market will be making an appearance in Sydney. This rather unique event offers shoppers a curation of the best local and international design across homewares, textiles, fashion, furniture, lighting, stationery, lifestyle & kids products. Visitors can enjoy 3 huge days of Christmas shopping (jackpot) along with creative workshops, designer showbags (that’s adult for “goodie bags”), delicious food and drink from local taste-makers (alcoholic and otherwise), free kids activities and more. Yeah, that’s big.
You can shop, eat, drink & shop some more. Were you expecting us to say, “Be merry.”? Do that also. The Big Design Market is a wonderland for Christmas shoppers, with thousands of distinctive, exclusive goods for sale. This is particularly for those who place value on ethical production, sustainability, quality, originality and good design… We just instinctively raised our hand.
Big shopping equals big appetites. Luckily they’ve got that covered with things like delicious food from Hunter Gatherer, Mary’s and Taco Truck; craft beer from Moo Brew; tea from The Rabbit Hole; and sweet treats from Gelato Messina, All Day Donuts and LuxBite. But honestly there’s few better combinations in this world than shopping and cocktails… which leads us to the part where we mention their cocktail bar with locally made spirits from Archie Rose.
There will be over 200 designer stalls, so if you’re making a list and checking it twice… You can probably find everything you’re looking for. If they don’t have it? Make it. You can give Santa’s elves a run for their money on the whole present design thing. They’ll have workshops hosted by special guest designers and stallholders. Literally you can create anything from lemon meringues to custom block prints. Variety is the spice of Christmas. Variety and cloves.
No word yet on being able to craft your own snow globe. A dream we didn’t even realise we had until literally this very moment. But one thing is for sure, Christmas has come early this year.
